For
many families, there comes a time when a need for more
space exists. There also generally comes a time when
the garage is not the most functional space in the home.
Either the family has outgrown common garage items like
sports equipment and yard toys, or a shed has been implemented
in the yard for lawn tools. Whatever the reason, if
a need arises for more space for the family to actually
live in and the garage is not being used in a large
way, many families will choose to convert the garage
into a living space.
Providing extra space, added comfort, and additional
privacy to the home for one or more family members,
the garage may be the perfect space to convert into
a variety of types of rooms:
Home Office
With advances in technology making it more and more
possible to work from home, many people desire a spacious
and quiet home office. The garage, which is typically
on one end of the house and can be very private, is
an extremely attractive option for a home office. A
home office in a garage may even make it possible to
have a separate entrance into the office, creating ease
when meeting with clients if necessary.
Entertainment
Center
After a long day at work, many want to relax and be
entertained. As an additional space, the garage provides
an excellent opportunity for the creation of an entertainment
center space. Providing extra space to house a large
screen TV a projection screen, or even special theater-like
seating, the garage might be an excellent opportunity
for an at-home entertainment center.
Bedroom
At one point or another, many growing families find
themselves in need of an extra bedroom, or even an extra
guest room. An additional bedroom can be costly when
added onto the house, however, converting a garage to
a bedroom comes with much lower costs because it is
already erected and already has a foundation. A garage
room might especially be suitable for someone who cannot
easily get up and down stairs, if the rest of the bedrooms
are upstairs. There are a lot of great opportunities
that exist for bedrooms with garage conversion.
Florida Room
Another popular use for people wishing to get more out
of the garage space is to turn it into a Florida room.
Like the construction of any room from scratch, converting
a garage comes with decreased costs due to the existence
of walls and a foundation. To convert a garage to a
Florida room, large windows or glass are added to the
existing space to create an unobstructed view of the
outdoors.
